New Video: The Otherworldly Photography of Paul Michael Kane [19 Aug 2009|09:52pm]

Wanna see some cool dark and creepy photography?

I've just produced a new video that focuses on award-winning photographer Paul Michael Kane's contributions to the current deck of Konxari Cards. Many of you already know Paul, as he's been the designer and webmaster of MattBusch.com for ten years. Our roots run deep, having worked on a myriad of projects together, including the Style D one sheet movie poster for STAR WARS: Revenge of the Sith.

In this video, you'll see some of Paul's extraordinary work that led him to be the official Konxari photographer. You also hear some of the stories behind the eerie images, and get a taste of how Kane creates such breath-taking and evocative photos.

Konxari Cards. What do you think? [02 Aug 2009|02:02pm]

So I posted here a while back, but I think I came across the wrong way. I'm not looking to sell anything, just your feedback.

What's the consensus? A card divination process that combines tarot cards with a ouija board? For Ghost Hunting?

Can these cards really deliver messages from those on the other side??

Please describe the activity that has been experienced by you or your animals
Do you know the history of the property/haunting?

If so, did they uncover any evidence?

We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Michigan Haunts!! It's been awhile since anyone has written.
Summer is the best time for ghost hunting, so I think things should pick up from here on out. The Shadowlands website has some great information on how to conduct a hunt; what to bring, what to say, how to act, what not to do, and such.
http://theshadowlands.net/places/  this is the site on their webpage that offers places where hauntings have occurred. Check it out: If you've ever been to any of the places, post about it, let us know.
Other than that, Wednesday's on Montel Williams, Sylvia Brown is on. I'm not sure if any of you are into psychic's but she's very interesting. On Comcast in the Detroit area she's on channel 2 at noon on Wednesdays. Anyone been to a good psychic in the area?

Anyone have any info on that cemetery I asked about awhile back? It's Evert Cemetery.

We went there a couple of times last year. The head stones seem to light up, etc. Anything anyone knows?

Recorded or Haunted [09 Sep 2006|01:42am]

[ mood | contemplative ]

People talk of haunted houses and of hearing odd noises. Interestingly they usually portray these scenes as happening on dark and stormy nights, and that got me thinking about the concept of recording.

If you think of old cassette tapes, the tape has a coating of ferric oxide powder (Iron oxide (FeO) is the red rust we commonly see. Ferric oxide (Fe2O3) is another oxide of iron.) and the sounds are recorded onto the tape using an electromagnet which magnetizes the oxide.

So… if you take an old house with the right materials (like rusted iron pipes), could you magnetize the object and record a sound into it? I’m thinking it would take the right frequency of sounds and the right conditions (arid? Magnetized dust particles?). And then on stormy nights … say a “magnetic storm” the conditions of the storm act like the playback side and the sounds are heard.

So why are they heard as moans and such … If you record something onto a tape, you have to play it back at the exact same rate (ie. X inch/second) and in the same order. If you play it too fast or too slow it will sound completely different. My feeling is that the conditions of recording vs. playback would be different and it may play the bits of material in a different order as it wouldn’t be running linear.

If I ever had the money/time I would love to do a study on this. See if the houses themselves have common materials, if the times the sound is heard has any common factors or conditions.

If you think about it, the concept of recording is nothing more than magnetizing and object. Who said the object had to only be linear tape?

Hey Everyone! I haven't written for awhile, but I thought I would update about a recent trip I went on (twice actually) with some friends.
I'm up at Central Michigan University, and one of my boyfriends roommates' hometown is Big Rapids. He has been telling us about this cemetery in Evart. He said we were not going to believe it; the head stones glow, and blink, and light up. We thought that he was stupid, you know...the moon reflects, headlights, etc. etc...
So...we go:
We pull up, and right away he points off to the left, and we just se all of these head stones flickering greens, reds, oranges...insane. I was driving. I stopped the car, and turned the lights off. Slowly one light would go out, and another come on. Not fast, just slow enough to notice though.
We went again, and it was doing the same thing. It sounds weird and hoax-like. But honest to God, it is just something you have to see to believe, and think "Oh my God that is fucking crazy..."
I took a picture, but it turned out to be just a bunch of white dots covering the screen. I was creeped out by that.
